What Is The Renu Micro Needling Pen?
The Renu Micro Needling Pen is a tool that ultimately allows for stimulation of collagen production and healing by forcing microscopic holes into the dermal layer of the skin. The microscopic holes create a small amount of damage to the skin that ‘trick’ the skin into the healing process. This method is effective at treating many skin issues as discussed below.
How Does The Renu Micro Needling Pen Work?
The Renu Micro Needling Pen is a small handheld device that is pressed onto the skin, that works by many small needles that oscillate and puncture the skin. This causes very minimal amounts of damage.
The skin then goes to work to repair the damage caused, and in doing so, collagen production is jump started. Collagen is responsible for elasticity, and a youthful appearance. It’s difficult to say what your patient will feel as each individual is different. You could definitely use benzocaine cream before treatment to avoid any pain associated with the treatment.

Common FAQs
Micro needling shouldn’t hurt, but it may be uncomfortable for some individuals. The use of benzocaine should help with any discomfort. Your patient may experience burning, itching, or a warming sensation with treatment, but the effects should be minimal.
There are a few important things every patient should not do or partake in prior to and following a micro needling procedure – at least for a week. The patient must be informed not to take any NSAID medications, such as ibuprofen and naproxen, for one week before the procedure. Other medications should be discussed with the patient during their consultation. Patient should avoid sun exposure for a week after their procedure, as well as utilizing makeup of any kind.
If your patient comes into the office and has any cuts, cold sores, or other skin inflammation on the area to be treated, treatment must be rescheduled until the skin has cleared. This is to avoid infection.
